Podiatry is the health profession that deals
with the management of foot and foot related disorders. The fact
the average person walks between 5000 to 8000 steps per day makes
footcare an important part of our day to day lives, yet an often
under-rated one until problems arise.
The scope of podiatric practice includes general footcare such as
the management of ingrown nails, plantar warts, corns & calluses,
orthotics, muscle release work all the way through to surgical management
of foot conditions.
We provide a comprehensive range of podiatry services dealing with
general footcare, footcare advice, foot pain management through
to the integration of linking foot based problems with other musculoskeletal
disorders such as low back pain.
We have specialist sports podiatrists who can manage orthopaedic
conditions such as plantar fasciitis, heel spur syndrome, shin splints
and other musculoskeletal based conditions. We have the only sports
podiatrist & chiropractor in Australia working in our practice,
so we have a significant advantage in being able to link how your
feet may be affecting other parts of the body through to headaches,
shoulder pain, low back instability and poor core balance.
Our greatest strength however lies in the fact that our podiatry
service is multi-faceted. We can provide treatment options ranging
from strengthening work through to flexibility programmes and home
care advice. We utilise orthotic management where indicated for
movement based biomechanical problems. Yet we don’t just rely
on orthotics as our only form of treatment. We integrate them with
other treatment modalities such core stability exercises, swiss
ball, Active Release Technique, Graston-Hall method, and electro-physical
agents such as ultrasound, interferential and laser to provide improved
treatment outcomes. |
